In China, the use of the comb can be traced back to thousands of years ago. Up to now, the earliest finds of combs in China date back to 6,000 years ago. However, the industry of comb appeared in Jin Dynasty (265–420) and thrived during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Combs are made of a number of materials, such as ivory, silver, horn, wood, bamboo, etc. However, combs made of wood are the most popular ones.

In ancient times, combs were even used as hair accessories to represent one’s social status. As time passed by, it became a more efficient tool for hair maintenance and hair care. Nowadays, there are more than 700 patterns of combs in China and you may find combs that apply to your hair length, texture, etc.
